I Can Be Kind We Can Spread Love
Kindness isn't something a child either has or doesn't. It's something they practice.
This book gives them fourteen ways to practice it, each one paired with something a child does on their own, and something they do together.
I can be kind by sharing a smile. / We can spread love by sharing a smile with a friend.
I can be kind and forgive myself. / We can spread love and forgive each other.
I can be kind by including everyone. / We can spread love by letting others join.
It starts where kindness actually has to start, with how a child treats themselves, then widens out to friends, family, neighbors, and the world they'll inherit.
Every spread ends with something to do. Smile at three people today, then write or draw how they reacted. Think of one way you could help someone this week. Write down three kind things you can say to someone, then practice saying them out loud. Children answer in a journal or out loud, so the book becomes a conversation instead of a bedtime story that ends at the last page.

I taught elementary school before I wrote this. Kindness was never the lesson that needed the most explaining, it was the one that needed the most practice.
